"Teaching Tomorrow’s Leaders the Power of Money"
Each year EconEd awards one recipient in the United States the Student of the Year award. Through EconEd’s programs, Damien has gone from almost no financial literacy knowledge, to contributing to a 401k and using healthy financial habits in his day to day. Outside of EconEd, Damien plays soccer competitively, recently being named an All-American.
“EconEd made me realize how important saving was, so I started contributing to my 401k through my job” - Damien Rodrigues
EconEd is a student-led nonprofit dedicated to making financial literacy accessible and engaging for young students from marginalized backgrounds, particularly Black and Hispanic communities that have historically been excluded from such resources. By teaching the fundamentals of budgeting, saving, investing, etc, we aim to close opportunity gaps and empower the next generation to build strong financial habits before systemic barriers and harmful financial practices take hold.
Building a supportive community where students can learn and grow together through shared economic experiences.
Providing practical, hands-on economic workshops tailored to students' needs and learning styles.
Making economic literacy accessible through local student-led chapters across the country.
